Join us Thursday, May 18th at 7:30p ET where we will reconvene for a celebratory May 3rd Recap and Next Steps meeting. We will gather to acknowledge the hard work and achievements of our growing national movement and our next steps to keep up the pressure on extremists and their enablers.
It’s time to take action. . . . again. For the past two summers, teachers rallied across the country at historic sites to speak out against anti-history education bills and to make public their pledge to teach the truth. These actions, the AAPF #Unbanned Book Tour, and the 2023 Freedom to Learn Day of Action, have been the only national protests of this dangerous legislation. The teacher-led rallies received national media attention, providing a valuable counter narrative to the oversized coverage of the well-funded anti-CRT movement. Once again, we invite educators, students, parents, and community members to rally across the country and pledge to #TeachTruth and defend LGBTQ+ rights on June 10, 2023. The situation is urgent. Lawmakers in at least 44 states have introduced legislation or pursued other measures that attempt to require educators to lie to students about the role of racism, sexism, heterosexism, transphobia, and other forms of oppression throughout U.S. history. These laws and restrictions have been imposed in at least 18 states. The Right has declared war on teaching the truth about structural racism and sexism and on LGBTQ+ youth. Netroots Nation is a non-profit organization that provides trainings, resources and connection opportunities to help progressive activists create a more progressive and just world. Since 2006, Netroots Nation has hosted the largest annual conference for progressives, drawing up to 4,000 attendees from around the country and beyond. The National Urban League Annual Conference will be a hybrid event in 2022! After two years as an exclusively virtual happening, the organization is returning to an in-person program. The 2022 conference will be the nation's largest and most influential civil rights and urban advocacy event. Each year, leaders in business, government, and social advocacy gather to explore the issues and initiatives that profoundly affect the communities served by the Urban League network of 90 affiliates nationwide. From policymakers and thought leaders to social media influencers and entrepreneurs, the National Urban League conference is the place to network, exchange ideas, gain insights, and strategize next steps toward justice.

Main stage discussions, luncheons, and the experience hall connect activists, allies, and entrepreneurs from varying backgrounds who are all committed to the same thing: thriving together.
The African American Policy Forum's Critical Race Theory Summer School 2023 Presents – Fighting Back to Move Forward: Defending the Freedom to Learn! This year’s 4th edition of our signature summer programming on July 30th -August 3rd will connect the dots between the attacks on critical knowledge, the impending threats to our multiracial democracy, and the practical tools required to sustain the movement.
